JBL Algol is a water conditioner for combating algae in freshwater aquariums and is available in different units.

The right product for long-term algae control
Excessive algae growth occurs when there is a buildup of excess nutrients such as phosphates and nitrates in the water, which are not utilised by other means. If all other causes, such as the location of the aquarium (note: daylight increases algae production significantly!) are ruled out, the only thing that will help is to use problem-solving water conditioners from JBL. Long-term algae control usually works in two steps: First, treat with Algol to combat algae in step one, then bind the nutrients safely as the second step. JBL PhosEx ultra or JBL PhosEx direct are great products for this purpose. The use of algae-eating animals such as suckermouth catfish, shrimps and snails is also an excellent idea to supplement this method.

Application

• A partial water change of 30% is recommended before use.
• JBL Algol should only be used in the morning.
• Shake the bottle vigorously for about 1 minute before use.
• Add the correct amount of JBL Algol to the water at a point with good water movement (e.g. filter outlet).
• Caution: Dead algae pollute the water and must be removed mechanically (for example, with a net).
• An initial cloudiness indicates the effectiveness of the product and will disappear within 2-24 hours.
• During the algae treatment, ensure sufficient water movement and aeration and thus a sufficient oxygen content.
• Dosage: 10 ml/ 40 litres of water
• Example: add 15 ml to a 60 litre aquarium.

Warning
Frequent re-application can damage sensitive plants. During treatment, a sufficient oxygen content in the water must be ensured through water movement and aeration. Do not filter through carbon! Switch off UV-C water clarifiers, if any, during treatment.
