Discover nowGuide to choosing the right pond filter:
To find the ideal filter size, your primary considerations should be the pond volume and your fish stocking levels. Optimal water quality can only be achieved when the filter capacity is perfectly matched to your pond pump. Generally speaking, there are two systems available:
- Pressure filters: These closed, compact units offer great installation flexibility—they can even be placed below the water level. They are the perfect space-saving solution for small to medium-sized ornamental features.
- Flow-through filters: If you are planning a large pond or have higher stocking levels, an open-system flow-through filter with a high flow capacity is the superior recommendation.
Operation, maintenance, and impact on your pond:
A high-quality filter ensures crystal-clear water by mechanically removing debris while simultaneously promoting the biological breakdown of nutrients. This reduces algae growth and ensures stable water parameters. To allow the system to reach its full potential, please keep the following points in mind:
- Operating times: For best results, run your pond filter continuously 24 hours a day during the season. In winter, you can pause the system depending on your local climate and pond depth.
- Maintenance: Regular cleaning ensures long-term water clarity. Depending on the season and biological load, cleaning is advisable roughly every 2 to 6 weeks. During the warm summer months, you should inspect the unit more frequently than in spring or autumn.
